Alix and Carl hosted a bit of a shotgun wedding here at JUSTIN Winery – they first contacted me on December 15 for a wedding that took place on January 8! Carl, who is the Executive Chef at Fire Restaurant in Grayton Beach, Florida, is hosting a JUSTIN Wine Dinner this spring. They were planning a trip to come out and taste the wines…and decided to get married while they were at it! The couple, who is from the East Coast, is having a large ceremony at home in the fall, but they wanted to have an intimate, laid-back ceremony out in California with their closest friends.
Alix and Carl were an absolute joy to work with. Being from a culinary background, they put their wedding into the hands of the JUSTIN Vineyards & Winery team and told Chef Will to have fun creating their food. We did a quick walk through of the caves the afternoon before, and the wedding went off without a hitch!
Their simple affair began with a beautiful ceremony for 18 at the ISOSCELES Tent Steps. The party then migrated to the back of the barrel chai to the ISOSCELES Library, where they celebrated with a champagne toast, and the evening concluded in the ISOSCELES Lounge with the newlywed’s first dance, a tasting of six JUSTIN wines and a selection of hors d’oeuvres.
